Walkman phone

Walkman is Sony's audio cassette player brand, now used to market its portable audio and video players. The original Walkman introduced a change in music listening habits, allowing people to carry their own choice of music with them. After losing a large portion of the market to other companies, Sony's latest attempt to revive the Walkman brand involves a series of music-centred mobile phones marketed under the Sony Ericsson brand.

The first launched W800 and W550 have numerous audio capabilities including playlists, audio equalisation, support for the M4A audio file format, and the ability to operate only as music player, with the telephony electronics switched off. It also includes standard mobile phone features, such as a 2 megapixel auto-focus camera. The W550/W600 will have 256 MB of internal memory, while the W800 includes a 512 MB Memory Stick.

The popularity of Walkman-branded telephones may be an indication that the portable audio and mobile telephone markets are beginning to converge. Walkman phones are equipped with applications such as Track ID, PlayNow and M-BUZZ and as of June 2007 Sony Ericsson claims to have sold over 26.5 million Walkman phones since the launch in September 2005. Sony Ericsson is seen to have had the most success with converging music and mobile phones, largely attributed to the Walkman heritage and expertise from Sony.

Cyber-shot phone

Cyber-shot is a line of digital cameras made by Sony. The Cyber-shot range is well known for its proprietary InfoLithium battery pack, the trademark Carl Zeiss lenses and overall design. Also, all Cyber-shot cameras accept Sony's proprietary Memory Stick or Memory Stick Pro Duo flash memory. Some high-end models have also supported CompactFlash. All Cyber-shot models have a DSC prefix in their names, which is an acronym for "Digital Still Camera".

In 2006, Sony Ericsson launched a mobile phone using the Cyber-shot branding for the Sony Ericsson K800, featuring a 3.2 megapixel Cyber-shot digital camera and a xenon flash. As a successor to the popular K Series, Sony Ericsson introduced the 'C' Series. The initial handset released under this category was the five megapixel C902, with the C905 announced shortly thereafter. The C905 signals Sony Ericsson's entry into the eight megapixel fight, and with strong camera credentials, the C905 is expected to offer users a strong imaging experience.

The Sony Ericsson F305 is Sony Ericsson’s first Motion Gaming-enabled phone. Or well, no, that’s actually not true, but it’s the first to go by that name in particular. It’s a quad-band GSM phone with support for EDGE network speeds. This low/mid-level phone sports some rather cool gaming features. The three pre-loaded games - Bowling, Bass fishing & Jockey - will enable you to use movements to play the game.Simply imitate the movement of the bowling ball throw with the F305, and you’ll be playing the game. Simple, isn’t it? It’s a bit like the concept behind Nintendo Wii, although I find it hard to believe this will work just as great as the Wii does. Other than the special gaming features, the F305 offers a set of PlayStation-like gaming keys just above the display, as well as a shortcut key to your games. Due to you’re in the middle of a game, the battery easy running low.(AP price:RM390)
The Nokia N-Gage brings the start of a whole new gaming experience to the market, with an ergonomic design optimized for playing games. Rich mobile games, combined with connected near distance multiplayer gaming over Bluetooth and wide area gaming using cellular networks, opens the door for totally new gaming concepts. Mobility will add a whole new dimension to innovative and creative games concepts and will provide opportunities for the games and telecom industry alike.

But now, the new generation N-Gage isn't a console or a single device. It's a gaming platform which is now available on an ever-expanding range of Nokia smartphones. Owners of compatible phones can buy or try the new N-Gage games, which are sold entirely as downloads. Games can be bought and downloaded straight onto the phone through the mobile phone network or wi-fi if you're on the move. Alternatively, if you're at home you can download the games onto your PC and then transfer them to the phone.
